Decline was expected: Pashinyan acknowledges drop in agriculture, abandons traditional farming

This year we have no growth in agriculture, on the contrary, there is a decline, and I can say this was quite expected for several reasons. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the National Assembly during Government Question Time, responding to a question from Narek Karapetyan, Leader of the “Strong Armenia” faction, about how much Armenia’s agricultural sector has grown since the beginning of this year.

Presenting current statistics on the sector and the government’s strategic approach, Nikol Pashinyan noted:

“It is clearly stated in the government’s program that from now on, by the word ‘agriculture,’ we must understand intensive agriculture. The forms of farming that are widely practiced today no longer have a future and will not grow. On the contrary, making efforts to grow them would mean condemning Armenia to a path of regression.”
