Lack of 2/3 majority in National Assembly changes balance of power, impeachment can be initiated: Narek Karapetyan

There were two ways to start a street struggle, and there was one problem with it: there were very few opposition members in the National Assembly of Armenia. This was stated by Narek Karapetyan, Leader of the “Mighty Armenia” faction, on air on Channel 5.

“We weren’t yet in parliament. Even if the street struggle had been successful, as in the case of Kirants, and that was the biggest street struggle, there wasn’t a large opposition presence in the National Assembly to initiate impeachment,” he said.

According to Karapetyan, the absence of a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly changes the rules of the game: now they can initiate impeachment, which they couldn’t do before.
