Armenia is indeed moving toward EU membership: Marta Kos

The European Union is ready to support Armenia as it moves closer to the EU. Marta Kos, EU commissioner for enlargement, said this at a briefing in the European Parliament.

“We are ready, and if they meet their commitments, we will meet ours. Armenia is genuinely moving toward the European Union. At the moment, it is the only country with which we are negotiating visa liberalization,” she said.

She also pointed to the EU’s support for the Armenian economy. “We are supporting (Armenia) on many issues because Russia has banned imports from your country,” she said. Kos added that there is also a special package of measures for Armenia’s economic development.
