The fourth illegal arrest of Robert Kocharyan, Armenia’s second president, and the unlawful criminal case against him must under no circumstances become a normal, everyday occurrence for participants in the political field, Bagrat Mikoyan, head of the second president’s office, said at a press conference.

“As long as the unlawful criminal prosecution of the president of Artsakh and Armenia has not been stopped in Armenia, talking about the normal course of political life would be excessive speculation,” he said.

According to Mikoyan, one of the first signs of political persecution is that a politician is deprived of the ability to carry out his activities without any judicial act to that effect.

Mikoyan added that Robert Kocharyan’s arrest is being carried out on the orders of Nikol Pashinyan, while stressing that the prime minister’s signature does not appear on the motions and arrest decisions.

“Today, tomorrow, in the near future, Pashinyan will say with great pleasure that he has nothing to do with this case, that his name and surname are not on it. These unlawful motions and decisions bear the signatures and specific names and surnames of Anna Vardapetyan, Tsovak Mnatsakanyan, and the judges who hand down the verdicts,” Mikoyan said.
