Commission against Church is a blow to national identity: Artur Khachatryan

Artur Khachatryan, a member of parliament from the Armenia faction, commented at a press conference on the Armenian authorities’ initiative to set up an investigative commission to examine the activities of the Armenian Church.

“The Holy Armenian Apostolic Church has been, is and, I am sure, will remain one of the pillars of our identity. We consider the decision by the Civil Contract party to set up an investigative commission shameful. It is a blow to national identity,” he said.

According to the lawmaker, the authorities’ arguments are unconvincing, and references to articles in place of publications cannot be considered proof of facts.
