RA MFA advised Maria Zakharova not to complicate the situation and not to resort to tricks in the Artsakh issue

Spokesperson of MFA of Armenia Ani Badalyan responded to the statement of the official representative of the Russian MFA Maria Zakharova, drawing her attention to the absence of any actions on the part of Russian peacekeepers to prevent the blockade of the Lachin corridor or open it.

“The comment of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry that the situation in Lachin is a result of Armenia’s recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan causes disappointment and bewilderment,” the statement of the RA Foreign Ministry said.

Badalyan stressed that the Nagorno-Karabakh issue had never been a territorial dispute between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is a problem of the rights and security of the people.

According to her, Armenia is committed to its initiative to establish stability in the region on the basis of mutual recognition of territorial integrity and borders.

“For peace in the region, it is necessary to restart the Lachin corridor in accordance with the tripartite agreements, decisions of the International Court of Justice; to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Nagorno-Karabakh; to discuss the problems within the framework of the Stepanakert-Baku,” the statement of the RA Foreign Ministry said.
