Armenia did not align itself with the EU Council Decision on restrictive measures of December 4, Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ani Badalyan told NEWS.am.

“Based on foreign policy priorities and as part of our partnership with the EU, Armenia considers and often aligns itself with EU decisions, showing its support and solidarity. Armenia did not join the EU Council Decision on restrictive measures of December 4 (2023/2721), as it can be seen from the statement of the EU Council of December 17,” she said.

Yesterday, EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell issued a statement, in which it was specifically mentioned that 11 non-EU member states, including Armenia and Azerbaijan, aligned themselves with the Decision of the EU Council on restrictive measures against officials, individuals and organizations responsible for serious human rights violations.

Later, Borrell’s statement was revised, with references to Armenia and Azerbaijan being removed from the text.
