Boxer Ruslan Avetisyan (46 kg) from the Russian city of Krasnodar won a gold medal at the EUBC European Boxing Championship in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the semifinals and finals, Avetisyan did not give a single point to his opponents and won.

“Two athletes represented Krasnodar at these competitions, but the fight for medals was so tough that only one reached the final. For Ruslan, it was his first international start, and it was victorious. Not everyone can do it. I am sure he will show himself many times over,” said Alexander Tereshchenko, First Deputy Director of the Krasnodar Department of Physical Culture and Sports.

240 boys and 123 girls aged 13–14 from 30 European countries took part in the championship, with the Russian national team taking first place.
