Movie featuring Armenian who faced persecution in Azerbaijan wins Oscars for best documentary short

The 96th annual Academy Awards ended in Los Angeles on Sunday, with ‘The Last Repair Shop’ by Kris Bowers and Ben Proudfoot, featuring an Armenian who was persecuted in Azerbaijan in the 1980s, winning the best documentary short.

The movie is set in Los Angeles. It features four dedicated heroes who keep over 80,000 student musical instruments in good repair. Their general manager is Steve Bagmanyan, who faced ethnic persecution in Azerbaijan in the 1980s.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ claimed seven awards, including the prestigious best picture trophy.
