27 thuja trees planted near Surb Hakob Church in Russia’s Simferopol ahead of 109th anniversary of Armenian Genocide

On the initiative of Priest Nerses Khananyan, 27 thuja (smaragd) trees were planted on April 1 near Surb Hakob Church and the Armenian cemetery in Simferopol, Russia, ahead of the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Crimean Armenian Society reports on Telegram.

The trees were planted by the families of the church benefactors, members of the board of trustees of the Armenian cemetery, chair of the Crimean Armenian Society Georgy Hakobyan, as well as pupils of the Armenian Bishop Khoren Stepane educational center, representatives of the Crimean Armenian Youth Congress, and members of the local folk dance ensembles.
