It would have been hard to expect a different decision at this stage, given the existing pressure on the judicial system and the comments made by representatives of the ruling political force about certain court rulings, Hakob Kureghyan, Sedrak Kocharyan’s lawyer, told journalists after the court hearing.

To recall, the detention of the eldest son of Robert Kocharyan, Armenia’s second president, has been extended by two months. The decision was made by the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia, with Vardges Stepanyan presiding.

“Once we receive the ruling, it will definitely be appealed. They promised to provide the ruling soon, and we will try to achieve a result through appeal proceedings,” the lawyer said.

According to him, they have so far received only an excerpt from the operative part of the decision, and the full ruling is not yet available.
