Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with members of the German Armenian community in Munich on February 16. Hours after the meeting, Jonathan Spangenberg, Chair of the Board of the Central Council of Armenians in Germany, revealed exclusive information according to which no official organization was present at the meeting with Pashinyan. Alpha News spoke to Samvel Lulukyan, a board member of the Central Council of Armenians in Germany, on this matter.

“Yes, the most important organizations in Germany were not present at the meeting with Pashinyan that day. There are dozens of organizations, and none of them attended the meeting. The Armenian Diocese, its 16 church unions, the Central Council of Armenians in Germany and any of the community organizations were not present. Instead, the meeting was attended by the former chair of the Armenian community of Munich, as well as members of the Munich community board, two or three of whom I know. In short, no official organization was present,” Lulukyan said.

Speaking about the reasons for the negative attitude of the Armenian community of Germany towards Pashinyan, he noted:

“One of the reasons is that he questioned the Armenian Genocide. He crossed all red lines. Perhaps those structures with whom I spoke made it clear that after this terrible statement they did not want to meet with Pashinyan. I respect all the participants in the meeting, but what Pashinyan presented as the meeting with the Armenian community of Germany does not correspond to reality. And the footage and photos from the meetings that he shows are a staged show. In fact, Mr. Pashinyan is preparing for elections, and this is all a campaign. We all know that his rating is quite low, and he is trying to boost it by such methods,” Lulukyan concluded.
