Aliyev congratulates Zelensky on the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory message to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, Azerbaijani media reported, citing the official website of the head of state.

Aliyev conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to Zelensky and the “friendly Ukrainian people.” He expressed satisfaction with the current level of Azerbaijani-Ukrainian relations, which have rich traditions, emphasizing that political dialogue, high-level mutual visits, and long-term effective cooperation in the energy, economic, and humanitarian spheres are key components of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

He specifically highlighted the results of Zelensky’s working visit to Baku in April and the negotiations that took place, noting that “regular contacts and mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both states are key factors in strengthening inter-state relations.”
