Aliyev weakens Armenia from outside, and Pashinyan from within: Strong Armenia
November 05 2026, 10:30
The decision to re-arrest Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, once again proves that Armenia’s state institutions follow the orders of Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia. Just a few days ago, Pashinyan publicly threatened opposition leaders who oppose the “Aliyev constitution,” and today Samvel Karapetyan has been arrested again.
This is stated in a statement by the Strong Armenia party.
“Aliyev is weakening Armenia from outside, and Pashinyan from within.
By re-arresting Samvel Karapetyan, Pashinyan is trying to use anti-democratic methods to force through the adoption of the ‘Aliyev constitution.
He did the same thing in 2025 and failed. Back then, Pashinyan arrested Samvel Karapetyan for defending the Armenian Apostolic Church. However, Pashinyan did not manage to dismantle and destroy the Church.
Now Pashinyan will fail again. He will not be able to impose the ‘Aliyev constitution,’ because the Armenian people are against it, and the united opposition will not back down under Pashinyan’s pressure or allow him to lead the country toward concessions.
Even while under arrest in 2025, Samvel Karapetyan rallied the people around defending Armenia’s national identity and independence. He will continue this fight today, regardless of the obstacles put in his way.
Together we will say ‘NO’ to the ‘Aliyev constitution’ and ‘YES’ to preserving Armenia’s independence,” the statement reads.
