All powers vested by the Constitution in the National Assembly must be exercised in order to have a strong Armenia. This was stated in parliament by Aram Vardevanyan, candidate for the post of Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly from the “Strong Armenia” faction.

According to Vardevanyan, he and his faction colleagues did not want to become deputies of the 9th convocation of the National Assembly, since being an opposition deputy in Armenia is not easy. However, he said, after lengthy discussions they decided to take on this responsibility, convinced that all the powers and tools available to parliament should be used for one main goal, which is strengthening Armenia.

During his speech, Vardevanyan criticized the ruling political force’s decisions regarding the situation around the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, as well as the arrests of political and public figures.

“In law, the most important red line is humanism. I am convinced that over the past 8 years we have been rapidly moving toward a humanitarian crisis,” Vardevanyan noted.
