Armenia does not consult with the EAEU on EU accession: Russian Foreign Ministry

Armenia is not consulting with its EAEU partners on preparations for accession to the European Union, said Mikael Agasandyan, Director of the First Department of CIS Countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“We see significant risks in connection with the legally established preparation of Armenia for accession to the European Union, which, by the way, is being carried out by the Armenian authorities without any consultations with EAEU partners,” Agasandyan said.

Recall that recently, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the Republic of Armenia will begin the process of preparing for a referendum on EU accession or maintaining EAEU membership, this was requested by the leaders of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan in a joint statement.
