Armenia must pursue EU rapprochement at its own expense: Peskov

Armenia must pursue rapprochement with the European Union (EU) not at the expense of Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), but at its own expense, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“There is also a big question: in moving toward the European Union, which is absolutely Armenia’s sovereign right, Armenia cannot and must not do so at the expense of EAEU member states’ finances. That is, it must do so at its own expense,” Peskov told journalists.

Commenting on the question of Armenia’s possible EU membership, Peskov noted that there is no ambiguity in the situation surrounding Armenia’s movement toward the European Union, everything is clear and transparent. “It is very simple. There is no ambiguity here whatsoever. Everything is absolutely clear, transparent, and straightforward,” he said.
