Armenia prepares to accept Russia’s Mir cards amid tourism surge

In response to the growing number of Russian visitors, Armenia’s banking system is adapting to support Russia’s payment infrastructure. According to Lusine Gevorgyan, Chair of Armenia’s Tourism Committee, the country plans to introduce support for Mir cards and QR code payments.

Between January and August 2025, over 700,000 Russian citizens visited Armenia, which became one of the key factors driving the integration of new payment solutions.
