Armenia will not be able to join the EU in the next 25 years: Andranik Hovhannisyan

I have not met a single European expert who considers Armenia’s accession to the European Union in the near future realistic. This was said by Andranik Hovhannisyan, a political scientist, in a conversation with Alpha News.
“Moreover, the point is that Armenia does not have this possibility not only before 2030, but even within the next 20–25 years. This assessment is linked to the fact that other countries, including Montenegro and Albania, have been in the membership queue for many years already. It is hard to imagine how Armenia could join the EU quickly when other candidates continue to wait their turn,” he noted.
Hovhannisyan added that there is another serious obstacle: the standards of Armenian products currently meet the requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union and do not align with the criteria of the European Union.
“Changing these standards is a lengthy and costly process that requires the injection of significant financial resources,” the political scientist stressed.
