Armenian team wins silver medal at 59th Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad

The Armenian team won a silver medal at the 59th Mendeleev International Chemistry Olympiad, which was held from May 5 to 13 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The Olympiad consisted of three stages—two theoretical and one practical—and brought together 190 participants from 40 countries.
Representing Armenia were Arman Kharatyan, a 12th-grade student at the Special School of Advanced Study of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Vanadzor, and Sevada Harutyunyan, a 12th-grade student at Photon College in Gyumri. The team was led by Andranik Davinyan, an employee of the Scientific and Technological Center of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and chairman of the Republican Chemistry Olympiad committee. At the event, Arman Kharatyan earned a silver medal.
At the previous 58th Mendeleev Olympiad held in Shenzhen, China, the Armenian team won one silver and two bronze medals. In total, the Armenian team won 45 medals (1 gold, 9 silver and 35 bronze) at the Mendeleev International Olympiads.
