Speaking to journalists, Taalatbek Masadykov, Secretary General of the CSTO, said that Article 25 of the organisation’s charter may be applied to Armenia.
“This concerns membership fees and non-participation over the past two years, now the third year of non-participation… Being present, but not taking part in the work,” he said.
Article 25 governs measures against member states that fail to meet their obligations, in particular those that have not paid their contributions to the budget for two years. In such cases, a country may lose the right to nominate its citizens for quota-based posts in the CSTO, as well as its voting rights in the organisation’s bodies, until the debt is paid off.
