Avalanche hits group of tourists in Kabardino-Balkaria: 11 dead

Footage has appeared online showing an avalanche in Kabardino-Balkaria that hit a group of 33 tourists.

The death toll from the avalanche has reached 11, and the fate of six people remains unknown, the Main Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations for the republic reported.

“11 people sustained injuries incompatible with life. The fate of six climbers remains unknown. There were 33 people in the group in total,” the statement said.
