Mikhail Yevdokimov, Russia’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, was summoned to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was handed a note of protest.
According to Azerbaijani media, during the meeting a sharp protest was expressed over a drone strike on the evening of July 5 on a SOCAR gas station in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine. The Russian side was handed the corresponding note, with it being noted that this was not the first such incident.
Strikes had previously been carried out on SOCAR facilities in Ukraine, including a gas distribution compressor station and an oil depot in Odesa. The attacks caused significant material damage, and company employees were injured. The Azerbaijani side emphasized that, despite repeated warnings, the recurrence of such incidents indicates the targeted nature of the attacks.
