Behavior of law enforcers in spiritual center of all Armenians is reprehensible and unacceptable – Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin

The press office of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin issued a statement on the attempts of the Armenian authorities to detain Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan.

“Despite the fact that His Holiness Mikayel expressed his willingness to go to the Investigative Committee and tried to get into the car with the representatives of the law enforcement bodies, the citizens and the clergy protested against the large gathering of NSS officers and masked police officers.

The behavior displayed by the law enforcers in the spiritual center of all Armenians, the use of force against the citizens is reprehensible and unacceptable.

His Holiness Mikayel, despite the lack of proper notification, made a decision and, without evading the demand, went to Yerevan to appear before the Investigative Committee.

Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin calls on the people not to give in to provocations, to remain vigilant and to continue to support them by all legal means,” the statement reads.
