The forcibly displaced from Artsakh are holding a protest in parallel with the 8th European Political Community Summit taking place in Yerevan. According to one of the participants, their aim is to demonstrate that there is a problem with freedom of speech in Armenia.
“There are political prisoners in Armenia, including detained journalists and archbishops. The rights of 100,000 Artsakh residents are not only unprotected by the authorities, but their implementation is being actively obstructed. By calling all this democracy, they are harming not only the Republic of Armenia and the country’s national interests, but also the very idea of democracy, because what is happening is a dictatorship, not democracy,” the protest participant said in an interview with journalists.
Addressing high-ranking European officials who have arrived in Armenia, she added: “By closing the Artsakh issue, by justifying and legitimizing the actions of these authorities, you also justify the practice of resolving any political issue or conflict through ethnic cleansing and genocide.”
