Can Samvel Karapetyan deliver a video message?

Law enforcement authorities in the Republic of Armenia have not clarified whether Samvel Karapetyan, who is under house arrest and leads the Strong Armenia party, is allowed to record video messages.

In response to a request from NEWS. am, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia stated: “The Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia does not provide legal assessments beyond the scope of specific criminal proceedings.”

It should be noted that earlier, member of Karapetyan’s legal team Aram Vardevanyan stated that the restriction on Karapetyan’s public appearances had been lifted, but the possibility of delivering video messages was not explicitly addressed. Requests were submitted both to the investigative body and the supervisory authority. According to Vardevanyan, the response received from the investigative body was effectively equivalent to a refusal.
