The Cassation Court has rejected an appeal by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia seeking to change the measure of restraint for Arush Arushanyan, candidate for mayor of the Goris municipality in the upcoming elections, to imprisonment. The ruling has already entered into legal force.

As a reminder, the Probation Service had petitioned the Anti-Corruption Court to replace Arushanyan’s sentence with imprisonment, but the court of first instance rejected the motion.

The Prosecutor’s Office appealed that decision to the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeals, which left the lower court’s ruling unchanged.

With this latest ruling by the Cassation Court, the legal proceedings have effectively come to an end.
