The Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Armenia has consented to the criminal prosecution of Narek Karapetyan, a member of the council of the Strong Armenia party. This was stated to journalists by lawyer Aram Vardevanyan.
According to the lawyer, law enforcement officials received the CEC’s consent to launch criminal prosecution. The question of deprivation of liberty will be considered at 3:30 pm. There are no legal grounds for this process. Karapetyan received deputy status the day before, and therefore this issue does not fall within the CEC’s competence, Vardevanyan added.
