The prosecutor has forwarded the criminal case file, along with the approved indictment, to the Anti-Corruption Court against K.A., who served as First Deputy Mayor of Yerevan from 2003 to 2009.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia, the criminal proceedings established that K.A., using his official authority contrary to the interests of his service, participated in the illegal alienation of two plots of land (each measuring 6,000 square meters) that were state property and included on the list of restrictions set out in Article 60 of the Land Code, located at the intersection of Azatutyan Avenue and Babayan Street.
The preliminary investigation established that the above-mentioned plots of land had been granted for free (permanent) use to the public organizations “Hayrenik-Spyurk Kamurj” (“Diaspora-Homeland Bridge”) and “Surb Lazar” (“Saint Lazarus”), even though, by a decision of the Government of Armenia, they had been included among specially protected territories set aside to expand Yerevan’s green zones, were intended for the creation of a citywide park, and, under the Land Code, were not subject to alienation.
