Corruption has thoroughly penetrated the ranks of the Civil Contract party and shows no sign of leaving, said Mesrop Manukyan, a lawmaker from the “Armenia” faction, in the National Assembly.

“Now I will tell you what corruption is and how this phenomenon manifests itself, one that has thoroughly penetrated the ranks of the CC and refuses to leave,” he said, citing as an example the Yerevan municipality’s purchase of 150 ZhongTong-brand buses that, according to the cost estimate, have two fewer passenger seats than specified.

“The buyer needed to explain why they took taxpayers’ money but bought buses with two fewer passenger seats. And that money went into the capital’s budget. Someone should have been held accountable for this, and the overpaid money should have been returned, but that didn’t happen,” Manukyan noted.
