Court extends Tsarukyan’s detention by two more months

A court in Yerevan extended the detention of Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” party, by two more months. The decision was made after a six-hour hearing. The previous detention period was set to expire on September 7.
Tsarukyan and another defendant in the case are accused of fraud and money laundering involving $21 million related to the activities of the Armenian-Iranian Chamber of Commerce in 2022–2024. The politician is also charged with embezzling $934,000 in a fuel supply deal with an Iranian citizen.
