Divine Liturgy served in St. Gayane Church on occasion of Great Barekendan

On the occasion of the Eve of Great Lent or Great Barekendan (Bun Barekendan), Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II served the Divine Liturgy at the Saint Gayane Church in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

During the evening service, the veils on the altars were closed, symbolizing the expulsion of man from paradise.

The feast of Great Barekendan is followed by a 40-day fast.
