The EAEU member state leaders have adopted a statement on Armenia, Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian president, said. According to him, a statement from the four EAEU member state leaders was handed to Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.

A session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in restricted and expanded formats is being held in Astana on Friday. It is attended by EAEU member states: Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia; as well as observer states: Uzbekistan, Cuba, and Iran.

“A statement was adopted there by four heads of state,” Ushakov told journalists. He added that the statement will be published.

Ushakov also stressed that the EAEU leaders at the Astana session discussed the situation surrounding Armenia’s plans to join the European Union.

“Yes, it was discussed,” Ushakov said in response to a question about whether the situation surrounding Armenia had been raised at the EAEU summit.
