The leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will receive a report on the available courses of action regarding Armenia’s membership in the bloc before December 2026. This was stated by Alexey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Asked whether any modalities for freezing Yerevan’s membership would be considered before December 2026, he noted that “the task is to examine the possible courses of action and report them to the leaders of the member states before December.”

“As is typically the case in such situations, a working group will clearly be established, comprising the relevant interested member states. The members of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, that is, the heads of government of our countries, were tasked with examining these matters. They will assess the situation and submit proposals to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which will be held here in St. Petersburg in December 2026,” Overchuk explained.
