‘Eternal’: Macron pays homage to Missak Manouchian

French President Emmanuel Macron posted a video on X, paying homage to the poet and French Resistance hero Missak Manouchian, whose remains will be reburied in Paris today.

“Eternal,” the caption says.

On this day 80 years ago, French national hero Missak Manouchian was arrested at Évry station and then shot along with his 22 comrades.

Missak Manouchian is the first foreign Resistance hero to enter France’s Panthéon, where legendary figures, from Jean-Jacques Rousseau to Hugo and Dumas, are buried.
