The European Union continues to turn into an aggressive military and political bloc that is unwilling to negotiate, Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, said during the thematic session “Concepts and Doctrines of National Security in Greater Eurasia: Specifics and Prospects,” TASS reports.

According to Venediktov, Europe is unlikely to regain its status as a centre of power, while Eurasia is gaining influence and becoming an increasingly promising pole. He also said that Europe intends to use Ukraine and Moldova to the end and is drawing Armenia into its orbit.

“Today, Europe stubbornly continues to dream of expansion, intends to use Ukraine and Moldova to the end, is drawing Armenia into its orbit and is taking unfriendly steps towards a number of other states as well. NATO has absorbed Finland and Sweden, expanding eastward once again despite promises not to do so. In Brussels, what remains of Ukraine’s able-bodied population is seen as a ‘penal battalion’ for the future European armed forces,” he said.
