Even the Israeli police supported the attacks on the Cows’ Garden, lawyer says
The attacks on the Cows’ Garden in the Armenian quarter of Jerusalem were supported even by Israeli police, lawyer and national public figure Garnik Kerkonyan told Alpha News.
“For more than 175 days, the Cows’ Garden has been under our control. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, people protect this area. There were incidents when several groups tried to enter the territory of the Cows’ Garden using different methods. Some attempts have even received support from the Israeli police. It means that even government agencies play a role in this matter. We currently have two lawsuits that have been filed in the courts in Jerusalem. The first claim is by the Patriarchate, the second is by the Armenian community,” the lawyer said.
Kerkonyan noted that a group of lawyers had been formed to understand the situation on the ground.
“The lawsuit of the Patriarchate is focused on the fact that there was fraud and bribery. A year ago, we formed an international team of lawyers who went to Jerusalem and held 36 meetings with various forces: the Israeli authorities, the Palestinian government, our Patriarchate and other patriarchates,” Kerkonyan said.
