I warn you: it’s not that simple. This was stated by Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” party, in a new address on entrepreneurship.

He emphasized that he himself went through the path of small business without starting capital and knows all the difficulties of Armenian entrepreneurship. According to him, it was the entrepreneurial class that played a key role in the formation of independent Armenia, withstanding the trials of the 1990s, blockade, crisis, and war.

Tsarukyan noted that the backbone of the country’s economy is small and medium-sized business, which the state must support through proper economic policy. At the same time, he warned: a business can be destroyed in a matter of months, while recovery takes long years.

He paid special attention to export markets, emphasizing that time in business does not stand still: “Our places are already being taken by others. Today, Azerbaijani goods are appearing in place of Armenian ones; tomorrow they could be replaced by Georgian, Moldovan, or Uzbek goods.”

According to him, the loss of sales markets will disrupt the entire economic cycle and hit the whole country.

“Our state rests on these people. Their interest is the interest of the whole country; their loss is a loss for all of us,” Tsarukyan noted, adding that the state must act with precisely this understanding.
