Gagik Khachatryan needs constant care but has been denied it this whole time: Yerem Sargsyan

Gagik Khachatryan, former Chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee, has disability status due to musculoskeletal problems. This was stated at a press conference by lawyer Yerem Sargsyan.

“We filed a motion for his transfer to a medical facility and for hearings to be held without his presence. From the morning of August 1, starting at 7: 30, Gagik Khachatryan was unable to eat or attend to his basic needs. He has disability status related to musculoskeletal problems. People with such conditions are entitled to special accommodations. Khachatryan needs constant care, but has been denied it this whole time,” the lawyer noted.

According to him, this constitutes a violation of Article 3 of the European Convention, since it amounts to cruel treatment of a person. According to Yerem Sargsyan, Khachatryan’s transfer from his home to the pre-trial detention facility was carried out with a number of medical violations.
