A public garden in the 8th arrondissement of Paris has been named after the legendary French singer of Armenian origin Charles Aznavour.
By making this decision, the Paris City Council “reinforced the unbreakable friendship and strength of Armenian-French relations”.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo, relatives and friends of the singer attended the ceremony on the 100th anniversary.
The choice of the public garden has a symbolic meaning, as the Esplanade d’Arménie is located next to it.
A statue of Komitas, erected in 2004, as well as the Yerevan Garden, opened in 2009, are also located on the Esplanade d’Arménie.
