Georgia has passed a bill on “foreign agents” in the third and final reading, Sputnik Georgia reports.
84 MPs voted “for” and 30 voted “against” the bill. The discussion took place amid protests and fights between MPs from the ruling Georgian Dream Party and opposition parties opposing the bill. Protesters once again gathered near the parliament, blocking Rustaveli Avenue as well as a side entrance to the building.
The law on “Transparency of Foreign Influence” stipulates that NGOs and media outlets that receive 20% of their funding from foreign donors register in a separate registry.
