Hasmik Seymour: We cannot surrender, we have no other option
Azerbaijan is a war criminal, Hasmik Seymour, our compatriot from Great Britain, art critic and founding member of the British Armenian Union, told Alpha News live.
“Azerbaijan always states that its first economic partner is Great Britain, even more than Russia. According to the British Embassy website, the investments made in Azerbaijan exceed 80 billion.
Only British Petroleum’s investments from this year to 2049 will be more than 30 billion. We cannot surrender, we have to work, we have to raise public awareness, especially, about human rights violations and war crimes,” Hasmik Seymour said.
She states that what is happening now in Artsakh is a war crime.
“We are trying to point out in our letters to both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs that there is a big humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, and Azerbaijan is, ultimately, a war criminal. This is our attitude and we must take this conversation to a humanitarian point, because we are not a party, we are a non-governmental organization, which is trying to raise awareness about the topic that concerns us, the genocide in Artsakh, as well as border violations and prisoners of war that have not yet been returned,” Seymour said.
According to Hasmik Seymour, the Armenians of the Diaspora are also divided and many of them do not participate in protests because they think they will not achieve results.
“The Armenian people are divided not only in Armenia, but also in the Diaspora. People consider that the protests are unnecessary, there is no need, we will not achieve a result, but the idea of our group is that we have to confront, there is no other option, we have to do what we can. We will have to fight for the Armenian people, Armenian statehood and sovereignty,” the art critic concluded.
