“I ask that you protect all citizens facing political persecution in Armenia”: Gagik Tsarukyan

Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, sent a message from the “Yerevan-Kentron” penitentiary institution.

“I have learned that about sixty respected figures from various fields in Armenia and the Diaspora have put forward an initiative to create a ‘Public Committee for the Defense of Gagik Tsarukyan.’

I am grateful to everyone. It is difficult to express in a few words my sincere human feelings and gratitude to you. I can only say that I will never forget this. At the same time, I would like to turn to you with a request, a proposal, an appeal – do not limit this committee’s work to defending only my rights. My request is that you support and protect all our citizens who are currently facing political persecution in Armenia. This is in the name of joining forces in the struggle to free the Armenians held in Baku.

Through your work, contribute to establishing justice and internal solidarity in the country. The struggle for human rights and justice requires serious effort and joint work. This is not a matter of the freedom of one or a few people. Our country must ensure justice, security, and protection for its citizens above all within the country, in order to be able to protect them from external threats.

Your authority, your human qualities, your integrity, and joint efforts can change a great deal for the better. Thank you again,” the statement said.
