One of the participants in the protest against the demolition of kiosks and shops in Yerevan’s Ajapnyak district said that the city authorities intend to demolish the property of people who hold property certificates, despite a court ruling in force.
According to her, Sergey Sargsyan, head of the Ajapnyak administrative district, is aware of the court ruling, at least the part that concerns the issue they raised.
“This is an unprecedented phenomenon in my practice and, I think, in the legal field in general, when the property of people who hold property certificates is simply demolished by decision of the city authorities. This is a very dangerous precedent, because if such a practice spreads, they can come to any of our homes at any moment and decide to demolish it based on some address or designation,” she said.
The protest participant said she filed a report with the Anti-Corruption Committee about a crime allegedly committed by Tigran Avinyan, mayor of Yerevan. She noted that law enforcement officers are aware of the situation and the expected actions.
