“I turned in my Armenian passport, and I will never come to Armenia again”: Norat Ter-Grigoriants

Norat Ter-Grigoriants, a lieutenant general of the USSR and Armenia who held senior positions in Armenia’s Ministry of Defense in the 1990s and now lives in Russia, has renounced his Republic of Armenia passport. He spoke about this in an interview with Iravunk.

It should be noted that Ter-Grigoriants is one of the key figures in the formation of Armenia’s Armed Forces and one of the authors of the idea of establishing a Russian military presence in the country.

“I went to the consulate and returned my Republic of Armenia passport. When asked why, I answered: ‘What am I supposed to do when people who have betrayed the small remaining Armenian people and are trying to destroy them by the hands of the Turks have come to power in Armenia?’ I turned in my passport, and I received a message from the current presidential administration: ‘You have been stripped of your citizenship.’ Well, goodbye, my dear ones. I will never come to Armenia again. That’s it,” said Ter-Grigoriants.
