Sevag Belian, Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee of Canada (ANCC), told Alpha News that large events commemorating the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 were held in major Canadian cities.
“Every year on April 24, protests take place across Canada, as they do in other parts of the world. According to tradition, Canadian Armenians gather in the capital, Ottawa, to hold both a political demonstration in front of parliament and a march to the Turkish embassy,” he said.
According to him, the largest protests took place in Montreal and Toronto.
“This year we changed the format to encourage greater participation. A special program with the participation of ARF Canadian youth was held in the largest cities of Canada—Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver. The largest turnout for protests took place in Montreal and Toronto,” Sevag Belian added.
