Karen Khachanov beats Daniel Altmaier to reach second round of Australian Open

Russian tennis player of Armenian origin Karen Khachanov, the No. 15 seed, beat German Daniel Altmaier 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3) to reach the second round of the Australian Open on Monday.

The match lasted 4 hours and 5 minutes.

Khachanov will face the winner of the match between Chilean Alejandro Tabilo and American qualifier Aleksandar Kovacevic next.

The Australian Open concludes on January 28.
