Khachanov advances to quarterfinals of tennis tournament in Barcelona

Russian Armenian tennis player Karen Khachanov defeated Spain’s Jaume Munar in the second round of the ATP tournament in Barcelona, TASS reports.

The match concluded with a score of 7–5, 6–4 in favor of Khachanov. His opponent in the next round will be determined by the outcome of the match between Russia’s Andrey Rublev and Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Khachanov, 28, currently holds the 27th position in the ATP world rankings. The athlete has seven ATP titles in his career. Khachanov’s best result at Grand Slam tournaments is reaching the semifinals of the US Open in 2022 and the Australian Open in 2023. In 2021, Khachanov earned an Olympic silver medal in singles and contributed to Russia’s victory in the Davis Cup as part of the national team.
