Kremlin calls Armenia’s willingness to join EU its sovereign right

Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov called Armenia’s willingness to join the European Union its sovereign right.

“This is Armenia’s sovereign right. Of course, it will be necessary for the Armenians themselves and everyone else to figure out to what extent this willingness is mutual and how the Europeans themselves feel about it. We know the experience of many countries that have been put, so to speak, in a long line…a decade-long line,” Peskov said, answering the journalists’ question about the adoption of the draft bill on the EU accession process by the Armenian Parliament.

On February 12, the Armenian National Assembly passed the draft bill on launching the process of the country’s accession to the EU.
