Barry Avrich, a Canadian director and master of art documentaries, has officially announced the start of production on a film about Larry Gagosian, an American art dealer and gallerist of Armenian descent, a figure who is at once public and intensely private.

The project is titled “Shadow Man: Inside the Secret World of Larry Gagosian.”

It is worth noting that Gagosian collaborated with Vahe Yengibaryan, co-founder of the Assembly of Armenians, and PrimeConcept, a leading luxury concierge company, to organize several large-scale contemporary art exhibitions in Russia.

At the invitation of Vahe Yengibaryan, Gagosian presented the “Insight?” project in Moscow in 2007 at Barvikha Luxury Village, and in 2008, “For What You Are About To Receive” at the former Krasny Oktyabr factory. Both exhibitions were organized with the participation of Gagosian Gallery, Vahe Yengibaryan, Alfa-Bank, and the Guta Group.
